Extracurricular activities provide students with opportunities to practice effort, develop Christlike character, and live out what they are learning in community.
Our mission is to assist parents in developing their children into Christian leaders who walk with the Lord and impact the world for Christ. Extracurricular programs allow students to put truth into action.
While our culture often celebrates fame, achievement, and personal glory, MCA pursues success differently. We seek growth in effort, humility, discipline, and character.
Effort
Extracurricular activities train students to give their best, even when it is difficult. Students learn perseverance, discipline, and integrity through competition and collaboration.

Character
Romans 8:28–29 teaches that God uses all things to conform us to the image of Christ. Through extracurricular involvement, students practice:
Every student, coach, sponsor, and parent reflects MCA. We hold one another accountable to standards that honor Christ. MCA is a member of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools and abides by all TAPPS regulations.
Eligibility
Students must maintain:
Students are encouraged to communicate proactively with tutors before checkpoint dates.
Parent Partnership
Parents of students participating in extracurricular activities are required to complete volunteer hours per student per activity — in addition to regular MCA Parent Service Hours.
Opportunities include mentoring, team transportation, concessions, event setup, and administrative support.
Some approved leadership roles fulfill both extracurricular and school service requirements.
Fees & Fundraising
A participation fee is required for each activity. Additional costs may include travel expenses, trainer fees, equipment, and competition costs.
Fundraising supports uniforms, supplies, technology, travel, and facility improvements.
All fees are processed through the FACTS Family Portal.
Extracurricular Activities
Art and Academic Team
9th–12th grade · TAPPS
The TAPPS Academic Team competes in academic and artistic events such as mathematics, science, writing, speaking, and fine arts.
Practices occur during the fall semester, with TAPPS State Competition in the spring.
Game Guild
All Upper School
Game Guild builds community through monthly gatherings centered on strategy and puzzle board games. Students meet once a month for pizza and fellowship.
Electronic games are not permitted.
Robotics
Grades 7–12 · FIRST Robotics
The MCA Robotics Club inspires student interest in science and technology through competitive robot design and build. Students work alongside adult mentors to develop:
- Engineering design & programming
- Fabrication and driving
- Fundraising and communication
- Leadership development
Robotics participation strengthens college resumes and may connect to scholarship opportunities through FIRST.
Yearbook
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
Students develop skills in writing, editing, photography, graphic design, communication, and project management.
Students also gain outreach experience working with families and local businesses.
Girls' Choir
7th–12th grade girls · Fridays
The Lady Knights Chorus performs in concerts each semester and may compete in All-Region and All-State processes, and spring solo and ensemble competitions.
